Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Receipt AI ("we", "us", "our", "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you are creating a business account, you represent that you have authority to bind that business to these terms.

2. What the Service Does

Receipt AI extracts structured data (merchant name, amount, date, line items, and similar fields) from receipt images and documents you upload, using third-party AI providers to perform the extraction. You remain responsible for verifying the accuracy of extracted data before relying on it — for example for accounting, tax, or reimbursement purposes.

3. Accounts

• You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your login credentials confidential.
• Business accounts must be registered with a company email address, not a personal/consumer email provider.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including actions taken by team members you invite to a business account.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the free tier, or attempt to circumvent token/usage limits.

4. Tokens and Payment

Processing a receipt consumes one token per distinct receipt extracted (a single uploaded file may contain more than one receipt, in which case each is charged separately). Tokens are purchased via M-Pesa or card payment, or included with a business subscription plan. Token purchases are generally non-refundable once tokens have been credited to your account, except where required by law or at our discretion.

5. Business Accounts and Team Members

Business account owners and admins can invite team members, who share the business's token pool. The business owner is responsible for managing who has access to the account and for any data uploaded by team members under that business account.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: upload documents you don't have the right to process; attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the Service; use the Service to process fraudulent or falsified receipts; or resell access to the Service without our written agreement (the Business API is provided for your own internal integrations).

7. Data Ownership

You retain ownership of the receipts and documents you upload and the data extracted from them. We do not claim ownership over your content. See our Data & Security page and Privacy Policy for how it is stored, processed, and, where applicable, shared with AI providers to perform extraction.

8. Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, including the accuracy of AI-extracted data. Extraction errors can occur, especially with low-quality images or unusual receipt formats — always review extracted data before relying on it.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Receipt AI is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service, including decisions made based on AI-extracted data.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice where practical.
